Nechama Brodie talks to Helen Zille Ahead of Local Government Elections
Inside Joburg author Nechama Brodie lets Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille describe herself and her beliefs in her own words in a Sunday Times article, ahead of the coming local government elections. Zille talks about waking up at 3 am, not being able to tell a joke, style, family, and doing what is considered unpopular:
Former journalist and anti-apartheid activist Helen Zille, 60, is the Premier of the Western Cape and leader of the Democratic Alliance. She lives in Cape Town with her husband, Emeritus Professor Johann Maree, and has two children, Paul and Thomas.
It’s often difficult to define what “truth” is. In most situations it’s not as clear as night or day. You can only get closer to the truth by hearing opposing arguments and alternative points of view. This is always what I have tried to do. I hold my views strongly, but provisionally, until a better argument comes along.
