Nechama Brodie on the Pretty Girl Who Blogs – and India’s Majestic City of Udaipur
Inside Joburg author Nechama Brodie chats to (self) marketing star and social gadfly, Alex van Tonder about her red-hot blog, Tales of the Pretty: Cape Town Girl:
‘What’s a nice girl like you doing in a blog like this?”
I don’t say this to Alex van Tonder when I meet her in person. That was more than a month ago. Since then, I’ve been thinking a lot about our meeting. About a girl and her blog. About what to say, what needs to be said.
Van Tonder is a very pretty, very clever 27-year-old who lives in Cape Town and has one of those impenetrable job titles: she’s the creative group head for below the line at advertising agency King James.
India, incredible India: Brodie shares stories and travel tips from her trip to Udaipur:
On our second day in Udaipur we watched as our guide, Lalit Sharma, performed magic. Standing at the entrance to Saheliyon-ki-Bari – the Gardens of the Maidens of Honour – Sharma clapped his hands and made the fountains dance.
One clap and the waters rose; another and the cool streams disappeared. “They’re on a timer,” we argued.
